What Are Inclinations?

Inclinations are traits that define how pawns behave during battle. Dragon’s Dogma 2 has four inclinations: Calm, Kindhearted, Simple, and Straightforward. These inclinations are paired with relevant vocations and specializations that help in maximising the pawn’s role in the battle.

What Does Each Inclination Do?

Simple Inclination

Simple Inclination emphasizes exploration and gathering items while travelling with your party. The pawns will not only explore but also hand over the items they find to you.

If they are combined with Logistican specialization, Simple pawns will gather items and craft curatives and implements.

Pawns with Simple Inclination can be aligned with any vocation. However, it is best to use vocations that have more mobility like thieves.

Calm Inclination

The Calm Inclination relies on strong defensive strategies to increase the pawn’s survival in battle. They will evade, block and utilise items to strengthen their defence. It is best to let them fight from a distance in a defensive mode.

One thing to note is that the pawn with the Calm Inclination will dispose of items they deem unwanted. So do not trust Arisens valuables to a pawn with Calm Inclination. This inclination is well-suited for damage and defensive pawn vocations.

Kindhearted Inclination

The Kindhearted Inclination has pawns take on a friendly and loyal personality. It is a support-based role during combat. Pawns with such Inclination often use healing, curing and regenerative spells especially when a party member is in danger.

As the Arisen needs a strong healer in the party, the Kindhearted Inclination should be granted to at least one pawn in the group. The Kindhearted Inclination suitable for the Mage, Sorcerer, and Magick Archer vocations.

This inclination uses Chirurgeon specialization allows pawns to apply restorative effects via items and spells to cure allies of debilitations.

Straightforward Inclination

The Straightforward Inclination gives pawns an outspoken, and aggressive personality. Pawns with this inclination can easily spot foes and are known to attack the enemy and take on stronger foes with all their might.

The brazen pawns are reckless and unpredictable but more daring than others in battle. The best vocations for the Straightforward Inclinations are Fighter, Warrior, and Thief as they prefer their battles up close and personal.

Steps to Change Dragon’s Dogma 2: All Pawn Inclinations

Rift Incense

If you wish to change the inclination of your Main Pawn do it by giving them the Rift Essence. Rift Incense can be purchased from Neomith for 2,000 RC (Rift Crystals) in the Vernworth Pawn Guild located in the Merchant Quarter of Vernworth.

To use the essence you will need a camping Kit which can be purchased from Philbert’s Sundries. It is found in the Merchant Quarter of Vernworth

Once you have Rift Incense head to a Campsite and make camp, approach your Main Pawn, hail them, and give them the Rift Incense to change their inclination. The new inclination and voice will be granted to them with the Rift Essence.

Where to Find Rift Incense

Neomith

The Rift Incense can be bought from Neomith inside the Vernworth Pawn Guild found inside the largest stone building. This is on the southwest end of the Merchant Quarter of Vernworth. Here you will find Neomith near the Grand Riftstone of Vermund.

Hail Neomith and ask him to show his stock of Rift Incenses. He carries four different Rift Incenses: Kindhearted, Calm, Simple, and Straightforward, costing 2,000 RC. Purchase any of the Rift Incense head back to your campsite and give it to your Main Pawn.
