Instant messaging is a boon that lets you connect to your friends and family. But sometimes we make a gaffe while sending a message. Well in such a situation an undo option is like a lifesaver. Many iPhone users have encountered the Undo send not showing up on their iPhones
The undo option helps you withdraw messages, videos and photos if you have sent them to the wrong contact. But all this is done within a time frame. So if you are facing the Und message not working issue then here are steps to fix the error.
Reasons Undo Send Not Showing Up:
The first and foremost reason is that the undo messaging feature is not supported in all iOS versions. It is only available for iOS 16 or higher, but the recipient’s device too should be on the same page. It also does not work if you go beyond the specific time. Last but the least it does not support Message, and only works for iMessage
Fix Undo Send Not Showing Up Issue:
Long Press on Text
Send a message that you wish to undo
- Press and hold the text bubble
- A pop-up menu will soon appear.
- Tap on Undo Send
- The text bubble will fizzle out of sight. You will receive a message that you have unsent the message but the recipient may still be able to see it.
Upgrade your iOS version
The unsend messages feature is applied to the iOS 16 version or higher. This feature works if both are using their 16 or later device.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap General
- Search for Software Update.
- Tap on Download and Install to upgrade your iOS version to the latest one.
Enable iMessage on your iPhone
Edit and unsend messages can only be used in iMessage and not on SMS messages. If the colour of the message bubble turns green, you have sent an SMS message. And if it turns blue, you’ve already sent a message with iMessage. Therefore, do check if you have enabled iMessage on your iPhone.
- Go to Settings.
- Search for Messages and tap on it.
- Turn on the iMessage button.
Hard Reset Your iPhone
If you are still facing the Undo Send Not Showing Up Issue then you need to, hard reset your phone.
- Press & release the volume up button.
- Release the volume down button.
- Press and hold the side button.
- As soon as the Apple logo appears, release the side button
Unsend Messages Within Time Limit
Apple. Users can withdraw messages within a time limit and that is 2 minutes. They can edit messages within 15 15-minute time period. If it is more than 15 minutes they will have the Undo Send Not Showing Up issue.
They can edit a message only 5 times and cannot edit messages if you have already done so more than 5 times.
But do not forget that Undoing a sent message will only fully work if both iPhones run on iOS 16. If the recipient is using an older version of iOS, the message will not be deleted from their phone, even though it will appear gone on yours. If the recipient is using iMessage on an Apple computer or iPad, then the message will remain visible on that device.
