Apple Watch Not Pairing With New iPhone Fix (Sept 2023)

  • Apple Watch is compatible with iPhone 6/ 6 Plus model or later
  • The Apple Watch is not compatible with iPad or Android-based devices
  • They cannot be paired with an IOS version less than 8.2
  • Poor functionality of the iPhone or Apple Watch can also be an issue
  • If your Apple Watch is not getting enough power, it might not connect to your iPhone.
  • The location and low connectivity can also interfere with the connection of your Apple Watch.

How to Resolve Apple Watch Not Pairing With iPhone Problem

Here are some simple but effective ways to ensure your Apple Watch connects to your iPhone.

Reboot Your Apple Watch & iPhone

If you are unable to connect your Apple Watch to your iPhone, the first thing you should do is restart both devices.

If you don’t know how to restart your iPhone and Apple Watch then follow the steps written below:

iPhone

  • Hold down the Sleep icon on the iPhone
  • A slide to power off icon will appear
  • After you slide the power icon to the right, the iPhone will power down
  • After some seconds, hold down the Sleep icon until the Apple logo appears on the screen
  • Wait till your iPhone finishes booting up
  • That’s it.

Apple Watch

  • Hold down the button on the Apple Watch
  • Slide the Power Off icon
  • After a few seconds, click to power the Apple Watch on again 
  • The Apple logo will appear on the screen
  • Now, check if your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone
  • That’s it.

Check Your iPhone’s OS For Updates

  • Check your version of the iOS
  • Launch the iPhone’s Settings app
  • Choose General and tap Software Update
  • You will be prompted to Download and Install if there is a more recent version of iOS available
  • You cannot check the version of WatchOS when the Apple Watch isn’t paired with the iPhone
  • That’s it.

Clear The iPhone’s Network Settings

The iPhone stores information about all connecting networks. Sometimes, the data can become corrupted. You can reset to solve the issue. 

If you don’t know how to do it then follow the steps written below:  

  • Launch iPhone’s Settings app.
  • Select General.
  • Scroll Down
  • From the general Settings, choose Reset
  • Tap Reset Network Settings. 
  • Type in your passcode 
  • Your request will be verified
  • Hopefully, the issue will be resolved

But if the problem persists then the last step is to reset the Apple Watch. But here in lies a hitch, any data on your Apple Watch can be lost if there is no backup.

So use this option in the end. But if you have a backup then the data can be restored after unpairing and re-pairing the Apple Watch and the iPhone.

Reset Apple Watch

To reset your Apple Watch, follow the steps written below:

  • Launch the Settings app
  • Choose General
  • Tap Reset
  • Select Erase All Content and Settings
  • On the iPhone
  • Launch the Apple Watch app
  • Choose the My Watch tab at the bottom of the screen
  • Select your watch at the top of the display
  • Tap the Information icon next to the watch
  • Choose Unpair Apple Watch and then tap again to confirm
  • As everything will be new, you’ll be able to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone easily

There can be other reasons that the Apple Watch and iPhone are not connecting. They can be the Airplane mode on or Bluetooth and Wifi not functioning. 

Airplane Mode 

  • Open Apple Watch’s Control Panel
  • When you do so, you will see Airplane Icon at the top of it.
  • If it is activated, the color will be orange
  • Tap on it to turn the Airplane mode off
  • That’s it.

Check Bluetooth

Bluetooth is an essential component in the pairing of an iPhone and Apple Watch. It can be found in the lower right corner of your iPhone’s Control Center. 

If it is off, the Bluetooth icon will be white. Tap it to turn it back On and your issue may soon resolve.
