Apple Pencil not showing up in Bluetooth Fixes
Here are some steps to solve the Apple Pencil not showing up in Bluetooth issue.
The first and foremost step is to pair the pencil with Bluetooth. Go to Settings tap on Bluetooth and make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. If the Apple Pencil is not visible in the list, re-sync the pencil by following the previous steps.
There will be a message on the iPad’s screen saying “Bluetooth Pairing Request” and you’ll just need to select “Pair”.
Check Compatibility
Check if your iPad model is compatible with the Apple Pencil 2. Here are some of the compatible iPads:
- iPad mini (6th generation)
- iPad Air (4th generation and later)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
- iPad Pro 11-inch (all generations)
Check the Battery
The battery in your Apple Pencil has to be charged for the pencil to work. So do check if the pencil is changed or not. If it shows 0% then you need to charge it as soon as possible.
Charge the 2nd generation Apple Pencil by attaching it magnetically to the side of your iPad.
Charge the 1st generation Apple Pencil by plugging it into the connector on your iPad or by using a USB power adapter,
Confirm Bluetooth Is Turned On
The Apple Pencil needs a Bluetooth connection with your iPad to work so do check if the two are connected and the Bluetooth is on.
- On your iPad
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap on Bluetooth and toggle switch to turn it on.
- If Bluetooth won’t turn on you need to restart your iPad and try again.
Pair Bluetooth and Pencil
If your iPad has lost the pairing with Apple Pencil, pair the two again to resolve the issue. But do ensure that the iPad is on and Bluetooth is enabled.
- Go to the Bluetooth settings screen.
- Tap the information icon next to the Apple Pencil.
- Tap on Forget This Device.
- Confirm by tapping on Forget Device again
- Position your 2nd generation Apple Pencil along the side of your iPad. For 1st generation Apple Pencil uncap the Apple
- Pencil and plug it into the lightning port of the iPad.
A Bluetooth Pairing Request dialog will appear and the pairing may occur automatically if the pencil has been paired before.
Pencil Tip Is Worn
If your Apple Pencil behaves erratically then it is possible that its tip could be worn out. To replace the pencil tip follow the steps shared below:
To replace the Apple Pencil, unscrew the pencil tip in a counterclockwise direction. Install a new pin as soon as the old worn pin comes off. This is done by screwing the tip clockwise in your Apple Pencil.
